The long lost Call of Duty 4 post 31
Mar

I have been trying to write a post about Call of Duty 4 for quite some time. I played through it, absolutely loved it, wanted to write a bunch about it….but then realized I wanted to play through it again…. and then wanted to write about it…but what the heck, I played through it again….and….

New Peripherals 28
Mar

I´ve been having pains in my wrist the last few months, and I´m pretty sure I’ve identified the source of these pains. It´s my old mouse and keyboard.

Javascript addition 27
Mar

These days I´m busy learning javascript at maximum pace. I suddenly realised that javascript has changed a lot since i used it back in 1998-99 and decided it caused more problems than solutions. I´m one of those people who have shunned it ever since, never wanting to sit down and LEARN it. My knowledge was limited to identifying it, changing it, and shunning it. But now I´m learning, and I´m impressed.

EA link – or how you shall NOT distribute your games! 25
Mar

When Command & Conquer 3 came out I couldn´t get my hands on it fast enough. Having had a lot of good experiences with STEAM games I decided that the easiest way to get CC3 was to buy it on EA’s digital distribution system EA Link….

Why a new blog….again? 24
Mar

Welcome to the new…new blog of mine. RazuBlog turned out to be quite the success. It has quite a few visitors everyday and some of you even comment regularly on my posts. I´ve even managed to get other people to link to me, and write positive stuff about my thoughts.

So all in all everything seem to be going very well – so why the new blog?

10.000 BC 23
Mar

Usually I don’t do movie reviews. But this weekend I went and saw the movie ”10.000 BC” which prompted me to actually write down my thoughts about it – the following text will contain spoilers, but you really shouldn´t go and watch the movie anyways…

Fear and horror! 21
Mar

The first game that made me shake in my pants from pure terror was the now renowned Alien Versus Predator. When playing that game as a marine in single player I would scream and jump around in my chair every time those pesky Aliens sneaked up on me. When Alien Versus Predator 2 came out it seemed they had only perfected their formula even more, and I screamed again.

Difficulty Revisited 21
Mar

In the latest edition of Game Developer Magazine there is an article by Dan Boutros about designing hard difficulty for games, and why. The article is definitely worth reading (and if you are seriously interested in game development the magazine in general is a must read). Since I have a lot of ideas and views on difficulty design I´ll do yet another post about it here – inspired by Dan.

Designing NPC´s 21
Mar

Since I am in the process of writing a game manuscript for “Last Rites” I have been brushing up on my manuscript design theory. It was while doing this that I came across a book on the subject that has now become my narrative design bible. The book is called “Creating Emotion in games” and it´s written by David Freeman a movie/game industry veteran.

Reading this book has really made me think about the way game manuscripts are structured – which has resulted in me writing down my own perspective on the subject. This will probably lead to a bunch of posts and articles on the subject, but I will try and keep it fairly structured.

A Massively Effective world 21
Mar

FINALLY I´m back on the blog. Having been sick, starting a new job, and preparing to move kept me busy the last week. But now I´m back.

While I was sick I completed Mass Effect and the Mass Effect novel “Mass Effect: Revelation”. Overall I was satisfied with the game, although I didn´t quite buy into the final boss battle, and screamed at my Xbox quite a few times because of that stupid unskipable cutscene.
